Catch Report 2018

A NEW LAKE RECORD - (21july - 28 july week17)

Week 17 was very hot again and we were visited by a Belgian family group of Erik, his son Robbe, his partner, his sister and her husband and a friend, Patrick who stayed in the chalet. They visited Lac de Der most days to swim and keep cool and only fished from the evening to mid morning.
Patrick fished swim 3 and landed the new lake record carp of 21kg/46lb4oz, a 12kg/26lb6oz mirror as well as 2 other small commons.
Robbe fished swim 2 with his dad and landed 5 carp to 15kg/33lb.
Erik had a new personal best 17kg/37lb6oz mirror.

World cup angling - (7july - 14 july week15)

Week 15 saw Mike and Dan in swim 3 who caught 13 carp to 37lb4oz which was a new personal best for Dan. Both of them had a grass carp - 25lb and 24lb8oz. They had brought a trophy with them for the one who caught the most weight of fish during the week but decided that they would call it a draw.
Our friends Daz and Julie visited with a grocery delivery for us and fished swim 5. Daz landed a catfish and 4 carp to 35lb4oz.
On Tuesday, Anoop, Erwin, Samantha and Alyssa joined us from The Netherlands and rented the Chalet. Anoop and Samantha fished swim 7 and landed a 17lb catfish and a 20lb common. Erwin fished swim 1 and had a 23lb mirror carp.

There were 22 fish caught during the week including 2 catfish and 2 grass carp.

On Wednesday we had a late dinner and watched the World Cup match between Croatia and England on the temporary TV in the dining room. Our Dutch anglers told us that they had learnt some new English words lol!

The weather was very hot again and apart from 1 fish caught Wednesday afternoon, all of the fish came between 8pm and 10am.

Couples retreat - (30 June - 7 july week14)

Week 14 was couples week. Karl & Shelley from the UK and Harry & Petra from The Netherlands.
Karl fished from swim 2 and landed 7 carp including a new personal best of 31lb and then smashed it with another personal best on his birthday of a 43lb8oz mirror. They also went and explored the area on a couple of days and had some meals out.
Harry, Petra and Luca the dog fished swim 5 and landed 5 carp to 37lb7oz. This was their second visit to Barrington's and it was a pleasure to see them again.
The weather was challenging with very hot days, a thunderstorm on Wednesday evening followed by showery rain on Thursday morning. All of the fish were caught between 8pm and 9am - nothing during the day.
